Rest up after running the Comrades Marathon

Rest up after running the Comrades Marathon

On this edition of the Ask Coach Parry podcast, I’m Brad Brown, Lindsey Parry is with us and our question today comes all the way from Western Australia. It’s from Camo and it starts out in good form.

It says, g’day guys, just wondering when your official training programs are going to be going up for 2016. He said, are you going to be compiling new ones, he’s after a program for a Bill Rowan medal in 2016.

Camo says, loves the podcasts. When are those programs going up Lindsey? I know the guys and girls on the Comrades Marathon website particularly are itching for them. The dust hasn’t even settled and people want to get going again.

What are you training for?

LP: That’s it, I try and force people to have some rest, so I never put any programs up there before the first of July. So everyone should be resting for two weeks minimum, of no running.

Then they can start some cross training and some gym for the third week. Then just start doing a couple of 20-30 minute easy jogs in that fourth week. Then on the first of July I will get those programs up and everybody can get training for the next Comrades.

BB: Awesome stuff Camo, thank you very much and ja, good luck for your build up to Comrades 2016, we look forward to seeing you out there. From the two of us, myself Brad Brown and Lindsey Parry, until next time, it’s cheers.
